Proper acclimation is essential to prevent stress, pH shock, and temperature shock. The float-and-drip method: Step 1 – Float the sealed bag in the aquarium for 15-20 minutes to equalise temperature. Step 2 – Open the bag and fold the edge to create a collar so it floats. Step 3 – Add a small cup of tank water to the bag every 5 minutes for 30-45 minutes, slowly diluting the bag water with your tank water. Step 4 – Use a net to transfer the fish; never pour bag water into the display tank as it may contain pathogens. Step 5 – Dim the lights for the first few hours to reduce stress. Related fish: Neon Tetra, Cardinal Tetra, Rummy Nose Tetra (most sensitive to transfer).
